Overview

An important part of the JConcepts product line, the Punisher body design began its off-road career during the 2010 racing season. Over the course of ten years, the design team, together with its drivers, pushed the limits and reinvented the Punisher along the way. The P2 design arrived just in time for the 2017 IFMAR Worlds, where the team tested and confirmed its performance characteristics on the track in Xiamen, China. Now, the P2 is available for the newest car in the XRAY product line, the XB4 2024.

As track conditions evolved worldwide, the P2 began to gain popularity. In the hands of top drivers Spencer Rivkin (2019 IFMAR World Champion) and Dakotah Phend (three-time ROAR 2WD national champion), the JConcepts body developed a reputation as the design for low- and high-grip dirt surfaces alike. The versatility of the P2, which provides grip when needed, stability at the right moment, and a tuning aid, together with front and rear wing options available separately from JConcepts, continues to make it a dominant 4WD buggy aerodynamic package.

The channeling of the P2 body’s concepts begins at the front with a forward-positioned windshield that is deeply recessed with a vertical rail. The continuation of the design runs across the cockpit and digs deeply into the rear section, where it returns to a dual winglet positioned horizontally just ahead of the rear tires. The recognizable feature that debuted in 2010, the center fin, is present on the world championship-winning body design and runs across most of its full length, from the cab to the rear shocks.

The P2’s dual windows hint at its JConcepts heritage, dating back to the original Illuzion body. The sides are heavily chamfered, a feature popularized by the original #gojconcepts bodies dating back to the early 2000s. In front of the windshield, a deflection shield directs airflow at the front, aligned with the geometry of the front shock. This premium component offers protection and encloses the XRAY gear guard like a glove.

The championship-winning item includes two 6.5-inch Carpet | Turf | Dirt wings, which are now a standard race item worldwide. The body features all trim and window lines engraved into the body, including masks for quickly covering the inside of the windows with user-created paint techniques. The P2 photo body is merely an example of what is possible with custom paint and artwork (not included) worldwide. The photo of the body, painted by Kustom RC Graphics, showcases the work that East Coast Color routinely performs for JConcepts drivers.

The Performance body is supplied in clear polycarbonate with protective film and is available in standard and lightweight molded thicknesses. A popular and versatile JConcepts decal sheet is included to decorate the new body according to the customer’s preference, while simple instructions cover the basics for new or inexperienced painters. The bodies with wings are carefully packaged in Groveland, Florida, stapled and labeled by professionals for customers seeking a high-quality option.
