Overview

An important part of the JConcepts product line, the Punisher body design began its off-road career during the 2010 racing season. Over the course of ten years, the design team, together with its drivers, pushed the limits and continuously reinvented the Punisher. The P2 design arrived just in time for the 2017 IFMAR Worlds, where the team tested and confirmed its performance characteristics on the track in Xiamen, China. Now, the P2 is available for the newest car in the XRAY product line, the XB4 2024.

As track conditions evolved worldwide, the P2 began to gain popularity. In the hands of top drivers Spencer Rivkin (2019 IFMAR World Champion) and Dakotah Phend (three-time ROAR 2WD national champion), the JConcepts body developed a reputation as the go-to design for low- and high-traction dirt surfaces. The P2’s versatility—providing grip when needed, stability at the right moment, and a tuning tool—combined with front and rear wing options sold separately by JConcepts, continues to make it a dominant 4WD buggy aerodynamic package.

The P2 body’s concept channeling begins at the front with a forward-positioned windshield that is deeply recessed with a vertical rail. The design continues across the cockpit and digs deeply into the rear section, where it returns to a dual winglet positioned horizontally just ahead of the rear tires. The recognizable feature that debuted in 2010, the center fin, is present on the body’s world-championship-winning design and runs across most of its full length, from the cab to the rear shocks.

The P2’s dual windows hint at its JConcepts heritage, dating back to the original Illuzion body. The sides are heavily chamfered, a feature popularized by the original #gojconcepts bodies dating back to the early 2000s. In front of the windshield, a deflector shield guides airflow at the front, aligning with the geometry of the front shock tower. This high-performance component provides protection and encloses the XRAY gear cover like a glove.

The championship-winning item includes two 6.5-inch Carpet | Turf | Dirt wings, now a standard race item worldwide. The body includes all trim lines and window lines engraved into the body, including masks for quickly covering the inside of the windows with user-created painting techniques. The P2 photo body is merely an example of what is possible in terms of custom paint and artwork (not included) worldwide. The photo of the body, painted by Kustom RC Graphics, showcases the work that East Coast Color routinely performs for JConcepts drivers.

The Performance body is supplied as clear polycarbonate with protective film and is available in standard and lightweight molded thicknesses. A popular and versatile JConcepts decal sheet is included to decorate the new body according to the customer’s preference, while simple instructions cover the basics for new or inexperienced painters. The bodies with wings are carefully packaged in Groveland, Florida, stapled and labeled by professionals for customers seeking a high-quality option.
