Vanquish VS4-10 Phoenix Portal Kit

Overview

The VS4-10 Phoenix Portal is the first platform equipped with Vanquish Products’ VFD Twin Transmission and F10 Portal Axles. This combination offers features never before available in a scale model of this type. The VFD Twin combines a selectable overdrive transmission with a 3-position Dig unit in one compact housing. The F10 Portal Axles are designed to minimize the size of the differential housing and maximize ground clearance around the C-hub and steering knuckles. The connection between the VFD Twin and the F10 Portal Axles is made via the ISD10 driveshafts. The ISD10 driveshafts feature machined CV joints at both ends and splined plastic shafts between them for smooth and efficient power transfer.

VFD Twin Transmission

The patented VFD Twin Transmission is an evolution of the original VFD. It combines performance, a sleek appearance, and durability with groundbreaking features in the industry. The VFD Twin is equipped with selectable overdrive and a reverse Dig function. The two-speed transfer case features replaceable bearing plates, a brass pivot for the shift arms, and chromoly shift sliders. Based on the proven Hurtz Dig function, the VFD Twin provides smooth and reliable shifting. Directly selectable overdrive from 6.5% to 46% enables immediate adjustments to driving characteristics and setup. The motor is mounted as far forward and as low as possible in the chassis. Compatible with 540 brushed and brushless motors*.

F10 Portal Axles

The F10 plastic-molded portal axles draw on Vanquish Products' extensive experience designing aluminum axles. The F10 axles feature an extremely strong construction with an integrated truss connecting both ends of the axle. Internal brass reinforcements increase rigidity and lower the center of gravity.

Chassis

The Vanquish Products VS4-10 chassis is designed to provide a balanced combination of scale realism and performance. The steel C-channel frame delivers scale detail, while cast front and rear crossmembers provide extra strength in high-load areas. These components feature dual servo mounts, winch line routing, and a scale fuel cell. The rock sliders have a replaceable outer section that fits the Phoenix body perfectly. The chassis is optimized for the VFD Twin transmission, keeping the overdrive and dig servos low in the chassis. The Panhard mount is machined from aluminum to withstand demanding off-road conditions. Cast shock towers support the tops of the 80 mm Incision S8E shocks with dual-shear mounting. Narrow front and rear bumpers increase ground clearance and improve approach and departure angles.

Suspension

The VS4-10 is equipped with 80 mm Incision S8E shocks. They feature large-bore, threaded 8 mm aluminum bodies, dual X-ring seals, locking spring collars, grooved spring cups, and polished steel shafts. The front 3-link with Panhard suspension provides a scale appearance by concealing the servo while maintaining full suspension travel. Stainless steel links help keep the weight low and provide a smooth transition to the rod ends.
